Pay it forward

Little did I know that I would one day invite a complete stranger into my home. Our guest was 31yrs old, traveling from Darwin through Katherine to Broome then onward to Sydney hoping to get there by early October when she would go home to Canada. On arrival to Katherine she was behind time and having done her shopping the reality and enormity of what she was doing hit her causing her to become very emotional in the car park. Loading my groceries into the boot of my car from where I stood it was obvious she was emotionally distraught causing me to call out to her and give her a big hug until she settled down. As she talked the straw that broke her was losing her scarf and stopping for 2 hours to look for it. As it was getting late I advised her I needed to go home to feed my dog Nitro as we had just come back in from a bush trip. Not happy with leaving her alone I invited her to follow me home where she could have a shower, meal and sleep safe and sound. The next day our guest felt much better I showed her where she could do her final shopping before she headed out to WA. After giving her a lot of safety tips we hugged and wished each other the best. My parting gift was to leave angels in her passenger’s seats so she would not be alone and she would be protected. I also sent a card to her mum in Canada to let her know her daughter was safe in our country
